So, I mean these suggestions very nicely:

1. I feel like I should note that when you post the limericks as images only, with no alt text, it means that people using screen readers can't vote on them. I know you don't mean to do that, and thought you might want to know.
2. I'm not sure if this is the way the poll is supposed to be, and I know the polls are really confusing to navigate, but this poll is a multiple choice question instead of a choose one question. You're describing it like you want people to select one but the poll doesn't enforce it. At this point, I don't know whether you want people to select only one, or if you want people to select the all ones they liked, so either double check the type of question next time or describe it more fully.

You are correct on both counts ...
I hadn't realized the images wouldn't render. I couldn't use the poll tool to post the limericks (there is a draconian character limit), so I came up with this solution on the fly (I didn't want to link to full limericks, since I thought it was more equitable to have only one stanza per poet). Ah well. I will try linking to them next time.

As for the multiple choice thang. I chose radial buttons as usual. Seems to have cropped up all on its own. After I discovered it (i.e., after it was discovered via a kindly writer), I was going to pull and repost, but I thought it was unfair since votes had already been entered.

I sincerely appreciate your thoughtful/constructive suggestions. I love this community to sharp, pointy bits and pieces. I will work toward improving it.

Alternatively you could quote all the limericks first, then run the poll beneath them using a radio button to choose between 1,2,3,4 or 5.

Re: You are correct on both counts ...
Oh, the images render in my browser--it's just that if somebody is using a screen reader, like if they are blind, they can't read the limerick if it's just an image without alt text. You do link to the original post the limericks were on, so they could conceivably go read it there, but that makes voting a lot more difficult for people using screen readers. the_hatstand makes a good suggestion.

Thanks again!! I think I will try the_hatstand's suggestion. I certainly don't want to make posting or reading more difficult for anyone.

@my_stitching: Yours would have gotten my vote, but the scansion doesn't work in the last line. Strict adherence to meter is essential to a good limerick, unless you're messing with it deliberately as part of the joke. Suggestion: replace "he is" with "the man is" or "the fella's."

I have one too on the subject of insomnia:

Once a man who liked Earl Grey
Drank the tea and cried 'hooray'.
Then he stayed up all the night
And his maid said he's a knight
And had more tea brought on tray.

Once a man who was all grey
Drank the tea that was Earl Grey.
Then he rode but couldn't move
And his horse broke up a hoof
But his keenness wouldn't fray.
